What are broadband social tariffs?
Social tariffs are cheaper phone and broadband packages for people on certain benefits such as: Universal Credit, Pension Credit and some other benefits. They might sometimes be referred to as ‘essential’ or ‘basic’ packages.
What are the benefits of having a social tariff?
• It can save you quite a lot of money on your bills
• It should not cost any money to switch if your current provider offers a social tariff
• Your price will not go up midway through a contract
• It does not cost you anything to leave a social tariff before the end of your contract
How do I apply?
These offers usually aren’t advertised by broadband providers. You can check if your current provider has a social tariff. You can either do this online or you can call to ask if they provide one and ask to switch to this. If they don’t, you can switch to another provider who does. You will need to check with your current provider if they will charge you a penalty fee to leave early.
